The simple answer is yes. From my previous article you will remember that an auto-responder helps you to keep in contact with your clients and to automate your email marketing campaigns. This in turn will help you to get that ever so important sale.

Today we will consider how an auto responder is intrinsically linked with email marketing campaigns and your job in selling one or more products off your web site.

The process of capturing your clients email address and therefore classifying him as a "prospect" should be one of the primary concerns of any who is trying to market a product updating their web site. So, how can we use an auto responder to help us capture a prospect?

A very simple and straightforward way of using your auto responder to capture a visitors email address by putting an on-line form on your site. When the site visitor fills in his/her email address, then you have a prospect.  The auto responder will store the email address in the designated responder and pop a nice and friendly message back to the visitor thanking him/her for their interest in the product.

Once you have your prospects email address and name – generally having offered them something free in return - you must then turn your prospect into a paying client. You can also do this with an auto-responder.

You must consider each client who has requested your free information as a prospect who needs to be 'converted'.  People will buy from you, provided the information and product you offer them is what they are looking for and it is presented correctly. Using an auto-responder to sell your message is part of this process.

You can achieve the above by regularly contacting and informing your prospects about your products and keeping them up to date with your news.

Set up between five and seven follow up messages using your auto-responder and deliver these daily to your new prospects. This will give your prospects ample time to get to know you and your product.

Once the follow up messages have been delivered, do not be afraid to broadcast additional interesting items of information to your entire list using the auto responder 'broadcast' facility. Despite spam and people being bombarded by sometimes hundreds of emails per day, if you are offering a good service, your prospects will always be pleased to hear your message and news about your product,  so don't forget to broadcast it when you have news, this could be a price change , the arrival of a new product or a change in terms and conditions. Using a auto responder you can achieve all this and more.

Once your list is growing, you need to monitor how your messages are received by your prospects. Using an auto responder you can firstly monitor delivery rates – getting mail delivered to some ISP seems to be almost impossible these days and further, you can track the email campaign itself and see how many people respond to your pitch. This you can do by varying the campaigns you put out, their style and structure.
