Many people go into internet marketing with what I call the "Field of Dreams" belief, "If I build it, they will come". This belief leads to one huge disappointment. You should think of your website as a piece of real estate. If no one knows about it, then you will remain a ghost town.

There are many techniques you can use to increase your traffic and overall effectiveness of your website. The first and most effective way to increase website traffic is to write articles about your specialty. Writing articles will help you in many ways that you may not have considered. First and foremost, you will increase your traffic. Secondly, as your articles appear more and more throughout the internet, you will be seen as an expert in your specific field and your name will become known.

There are many ways to build your articles' popularity and overall effectiveness.  Here is what you need to do.

  1. First, write what you know! In writing about  your specialty, your passion and expertise will come across in the article and people will see this.  Therefore, they will be more apt to go to your site when they need that information.

  2. Second, submit your articles to as many ezine sites as you can to increase your overall appearance on the web. Webmasters love to use these free articles on their sites because it cuts down on their own work.

  3. Third, do the work to increase your articles being picked up by others.

What I mean by this is research the keywords that you will be using in your article. Webmasters may be looking for specific keywords, and if you have done the research and are using the most popular search terms for your area of expertise, you are more apt to have your article picked up. I suggest you use sites like overture.com and google to find the keywords to use.

Here's what I highly suggest you do. When you're writing articles, always write them in pairs. If you have one topic, it will always come out just a little different the next time you write it and increase your chances of having it picked up. This is a great technique that many gurus are taking advantage of, and you should be too.
