Top 3 Things to Look For When Choosing a Network Marketing Company

Bookmark and Share
It's no secret that when the economy is hurting, this industry grows exponentially. The fact of the matter is that when people begin to feel the impact of the economy personally, they are more willing (and often desperate) to try new ways to make an income. Don't rush your decision! Before you do anything, review the Top 3 Things to Consider Before Choosing a Network Marketing Company.

Unfortunately, many of these companies have promised that theirs is a way to "get rich quick." After time, it became evident that it just wasn't true, hurting every legitimate company in the industry in the process. I've heard sales-pitches from at least a dozen different network marketing companies, and most of them weren't in business a few short years later. So how do you know if what you're considering will be there after you get started?

Here are the Top 3 things to consider before choosing a company to get involved with:
  1. Is the product/service you'll be selling a good value? There are so many nutrition supplements that claim to be the greatest thing in the world (and very well could be) and charge you an arm and a leg, when you can get the exact same thing either online or at your local store for a lot less money.
  2. Is there a lot of competition in the product industry? As of 2008, there are between 3,000 and 5,000 network marketing companies in the health and wellness industry alone! That is A LOT of competition for products that most people don't truly get excited about! Now, on the other hand, the travel industry is roughly 50X larger and is virtually untapped by network marketing companies.
  3. Is the company heavily invested into training its reps? Many people would like to be in business for themselves, but not by themselves. Many companies just want you to pay them a fee to sign up and then require you to buy a certain amount of their product every month. As long as you keep up with their minimum purchase requirements, they're content. You need to find a company that is heavily invested in training its reps and will be there to "hold your hand" through every step in building your business.

For many years, I absolutely despised this industry completely because of the few products and people I had been exposed to. For the longest time, you could not get me to listen to anything, regardless of which company it was, after I found out that it was network marketing based. That is... until I found one that totally changed my position on the entire industry.

My advice to anyone looking to get into this industry is to do your homework, consider these three key points, and do not get involved with any company whose products (not business structure) don't excite you. One of the first things that people will notice in you is your passion. It can be your greatest asset or your biggest curse, depending on how excited you are about what you have to offer.
